I can't believe we are almost done sharing Midland's entire new

Second album. It's called Let It Roll and I hope that you have

Enjoyed what you've heard so far. We've got two more songs to go

This next one, "Get In The Feel," Jess, this is another one that

You wrote entirely by yourself. So, of course, I want to know

How this all came about, but I'm also curious. When you do end

Up writing a song completely on your own, are the other guys

Around and you just decide, "This is one I want to take on on

My own," or are you usually already away from everybody and then

You just meet the challenge of completing the song by yourself?

Um, there's no one way that that happens. Sometimes I'll work on

Something around them and we'll all collaborate or whatever. "Get

In The Feel" was one that I wrote at home and it was one of the

Fastest songs I ever wrote. I think I probably wrote that song in

About ten minutes. It was during a time when I was kind of seeing

How quickly I could write a song and trying to bypass the critical

Brain. It's definitely L.A. country, Gram Parsons influence, Flying

Burrito Brothers, kind of a seventies take on an older style of

Country, I guess. And then the lyric is sad, but hopeful. It's

Supposed to leave you with that kind of a feeling. We did it at Sonic

Ranch in El Paso the first time that we three of us ever got together

. Maybe it was a song that the three of us had connected with as we

Walked away from the Sonic Ranch recordings

Maybe more than the others, you know, and partly

Because it had that up front harmony thing on it

My favorite line in that song and maybe of any of your

Songs for whatever reason, "Sky turns red like an old

Can of beer." There's so many other red references

You picked that one and I thought, "That's just a

Great line. No one ever could write that again."

For me, personally, that's my favorite song to sing and the hardest

Because the range is so crazy, but for me it's the song that I look

At Jess and I go, "Wow, that's classic." It's one of my favorite

Songs of all time and I'm really

Proud and happy that it's on the album

Yeah, there are a lot of very colorful and interesting lyrics
